Herbs Online And The Need To Re-skill The Homemakers
All through history women have been the primary carers of the infirm, the injured and the sick. It has taken less than half a century for this caring knowledge to be taken over by the medical profession who now are expected to supervise all care. There are many people who are involved in the heavy work of caring for family members needing 24 hour a day nursing. It is time for all in the home to take charge of their lives and seek information about good self care and herbs online.
It is quite tragic that we have deskilled our carers and denigrated traditional knowledge about herbs as remedies and home caring. I remember back when I was a child in the early 1950s when every girl eight years and older was encouraged to attend a Red Cross training in Home Nursing where they were taught how to do full barrier nursing. It is no longer acceptable for an eight year old to be involved in nursing a highly infectious person. Back then it was considered a necessary family skill as there was still so much tuberculosis, scarlet fever and polio in the community.
However we have to ask ourselves just why this should be considered a backward step? Too many people cannot do much more than heat up an instant meal and yet they can use the internet to increase their skills of cooking, homemaking and learn about such things as herbs online. The cost of health care has sky rocketed over the decades. Living standards have increased over time along with the costs of drugs and health care as has the expectations of the effectiveness of those drugs. Sadly they are much mistaken. Instead of most people’s expectation that drugs prescribed by the doctors should be about 80% effective many only add a percent or two to the bodies’ ability to self heal, and many even less than that. It is up to each person to take responsibility for their own health and learn as much as possible about their own self care including such options as meditation and herbs online so they can take charge of themselves. We need to take charge and re-skill ourselves.
