Owning your own home is a big responsibility. The expense of home improvements as well as all repairs falls on you. For those of us that are still renting, the landlord has to pay for repairs when something tears up and home improvements are pretty much out of the question.

Sometimes even the smallest of repairs can prove to be a little too expensive. Home improvements on the other hand can sometimes even require a loan or second morgtage depending on the extent of improvements you wish to make.

Shopping around for the best price can sometimes save you hundreds of dollars, but getting a lower price can also mean getting lower quality materials. Thankfully, we have lots of home improvement centers to choose from and finding the right materials at the right price might just require a little window shopping.

Three Major Players In The Home Improvement Market

Lowe’s Home Improvement stores have a long history behind them. They offer over 40,000 products and if you can’t find the perfect item, they also offer special order products. They carry name brand appliances, lighting fixtures, kitchen cabinets, doors and many other items.

With their wide selection of building products, most large stores have everything you need to add an addition onto your home. From paints to bricks you can usually purchase all the products you require for any project. From adding a room to giving a room a whole new look a Home Improvement store can take care of all your needs.

If you live in certain areas of the U.S you may be close to a Menards home improvement store. Opened in 1960 and known as a place to “Save Big Money”, Menards is a family business were customers are number one.

Well known for their high quality merchandise and lowest prices in town, Menards has a well stocked store to meet all your home repair or improvement needs. As a extra little feature to help you with any improvement project you might have, in store computers are provided to let you design your project.

Whether you just need new floor or wall coverings, new kitchen or bathroom cabinets, or your current appliances need replacing, Menards home improvement stores can offer you choices. Besides the huge inventory of building materials they carry, some of the stores now offer a grocery section too.

Sears home repair store began operation in 1995, while they don’t sell building materials, they do offer several services and many products to give your home a whole new look. Some of the things they offer include premium vinyl siding installation, replacement windows and doors, garage doors and cabinet refacing.

They also sell home appliances and carry a large range of colors and styles. They will also complete remodeling work for you including installing heating and cooling units or water heaters, for example.

A lot of people are just too busy to visit every store looking for the right products they want. For this circumstance, most businesses now have online stores where you can do virtual shopping. Also, a catalog can be requested from Sears and Lowes so your can browse from the comfort of your home.

Many home improvement stores now offer services to help you with any project. Employees are often trained in helping you decide which product best suits your needs and the personal touches make the home improvement process much less complicated than it used to be.
